Crown - in architectural nomenclature, crown generally refers to the types of single piece molding that are installed at an angle to their adjoining surfaces. As it's name indicates, crown molding serves as an ornamental capping to walls, cabinets and built ins, but is also useful as a decorative support for elements like fireplace mantels etc. Crown molding installation can be tricky due to the moulding's angle and upside down position when being cut.
